Crazy cress!

March 31st, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

We have been looking after the cress all week making sure it has lots of water and sunlight so that it can grow.

Have a look at how tall it is now:

Can you grow something at home?

Have you tried cress before?

Cress seeds

March 30th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

This week as well as learning about Easter we have been looking at the season of Spring and what happens in Spring.

We have talked about the animals we see in Spring and the plants that we can see growing.

To learn more about how things grow at the start of the week we planted some cress seeds. We thought about what the seeds would need to grow and we have been giving them a little bit of water everyday.

Tomorrow we will have another look and put some more pictures up of how our seeds look now.

How do you think they will look?

What do plants need to grow?

 Have you planted anything before?

Hot Cross Buns

March 30th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

As part of our learning about Easter we have talked about what we think Easter is about. We then went through the true Easter story.

It is traditional to eat warm hot cross buns on Good Friday. Hot Cross Buns with their combination of spicy, sweet and fruity flavours have long been an Easter tradition, with the cross on top of the buns to remind Christians of the cross that Jesus died on.

We decided to try our best at making some hot cross buns and they turned out beautifully.

Did you enjoy your hot cross buns?

What did we put in them?

Can you remember how we made them?

Eggs-perimenting with eggs

March 30th, 2017 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

This week we have been learning all about Easter.

We have done an egg experiment where we had lots of eggs made from different things and we were seeing which one rolls the furthest.

We talked about what they felt like and chose which egg we thought would go the furthest.

What egg did you choose?

What did it feel like?

Which do you think would go the furthest?

Perfect Pets

March 23rd, 2017 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

Having met our animal friends yesterday we talked about what pets people have and we learned that not everyone has a pet so we decided to make pets.

We found some rocks in our outside area and painted them in beautiful bright colours and added some googly eyes to bring them to life.

We have done some writing about our pet rocks that you can see up on the walls in the nursery.

I think they are really lovely, what do you think?

Can you see your pet rock?

What colours did you use?

What does your pet rock like to eat?

Amazing animals

As part of our work on people who help us we have been looking at Vets this week. Yesterday we were very lucky to be able to meet some amazing animals.

We met Eritrea the Hamster, Turbo the giant African land snail, a Gargoyle gecko and two very friendly guinea pigs.

What animals did you like meeting?

What special facts can you remember about the animals?

Which was your favourite and why?

Marvellous Medicines

March 23rd, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

As part of our work on people who help us we read a book called ‘Paddington goes to hospital’ and talked about what happens when you go to the doctors.

We decided to make some delicious fruit juice ‘medicines’. We were so good at pouring the different coloured juices into our cup and we all were so good at trying them.

What flavour was your ‘medicine’?

Was it nice?

What colour was it?
