Our last day

July 18th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

On Friday it was the last day we had with all of the older children in Nursery before they move on up to FS2.

We had lots of fun playing with all the toys that were brought in and we even played some party games.

To finish off our final day together we ate some lovely fruity jelly.

Did you enjoy your last day?

What flavour jelly did you have?

Wonderful writing!

I have been so impressed with some of the children in nursery today. They have chosen to write stories and all of the staff have been blown away with their work.

Here are some example of their fantastic writing;

What was your story about?

Can you write a story at home?

Arrrrrrrhhhhhh pirate day!

June 15th, 2017 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

We had such a wonderful day pretending to be pirates.

Having read Mrs Pirate we went on a pirate adventure in our homemade pirate ships.

We found an eyepatch, a telescope, some treasure and a parrot called Polly.

We decorated pirate biscuits and played some pirate games outside.

What did you enjoy doing?

Motormouth May

Throughout May the St Augustine’s foundation stage have been taking part in the ‘Chatterbox challenge’ to raise awareness of the importance of good speech, language and communication for all children.

Today we have been doing a nursery rhyme challenge to see how many nursery rhymes we can do in just 10 minutes. We managed a whopping 14 nursery rhymes and I am so impressed with everyone who was involved; You sang beautifully and knew all of the actions.

What was your favourite nursery rhyme that we sang?

Did you learn any new ones?

Can you teach one to someone at home?

Physical Activities Day

May 22nd, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Well I think I can speak on behalf of everyone involved when I say our Nursery physical activities day was a success.

We all had so much fun and hope that all the parents and carers that were able to attend enjoyed it as much as we did.

We also need  to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the year 6  helpers, our amazing day wouldn’t have been possible without you!

What was your favourite event?

Which one did you do the most?

I know Mrs Parry really enjoyed the obstacle course!

Last week we were learning all about the story ‘Something Else’ by Kathryn Cave.

It is about a little creature that look and acts a bit different to the other animals, and they aren’t very kind to him.

We talked a lot about how people can be the same and how they can be different and just because someone is a bit different doesn’t mean we are unkind to them, we are friends with people because of who they are not what they look like.

We discussed that people all over the world look and sound different and think different things but that its okay to look different and sound different and think different things .

So with this in mind we decided to make some biscuits that look like the world to show that although we are all different, we are all together on this planet.

The blue part didn’t come out as bright as we wanted but they still tasted delicious!

Painting edible weather

May 16th, 2017 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Whilst we were learning the nursery rhyme of Incy Wincy Spider, we talked all about the different types of weather that there is.

We chose our favourite weather and put it on a graph, acted out what the weather would look like with our bodies and we painted the weather. But we used special edible paint and painted it onto bread. We found this quite tricky because the more ‘paint’ we put on the soggier the bread became.

We decided that although it was nice and soft to paint on it was hard to draw out our pictures.

What is your favourite kind of weather?

Fe Fi Fo Fum!

Last week we were reading a story all about a little boy who sold his cow for some magic beans.

Of course it was Jack and the Beanstalk!

We made some magic harps just like the one that the giant had in his castle in the clouds.

Can you remember the story?

What else did Jack see in the castle?

How did you make your magic harp?

Incy Wincys web

May 4th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

This week we have been looking at the nursery rhyme of Incy Wincy Spider.

As well as looking at the different weather that Incy Wincy experiences we have been talking about where spiders live and where we can see spider webs.

We found lots of spider webs outside and described to paint our own webs, instead of using paint brushes we used pieces of string.

This is what we thought about painting with string;

Amelia- ‘when I pushed down on the string it felt cold.’

Tilar- ‘it was easy to paint because it was just a big line.’

Max- ‘it was hard to make spiders.’
